Representative of Resident Director of the World Bank in Mozambique

Michel Matera, a French national, is the World Bank Sector Leader for Sustainable Development for Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros and Seychelles, covering the following sectors: Agriculture and Food; Climate Change; Environment, Natural resources & Blue Economy; Social Sustainability & Inclusion; Urban, Disaster Risk Management, Resilience & Land; and Water. He has more than 20 years of operational experience in disaster risk management, urban development, climate change and resilience in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East as well as the Pacific. He joined the World Bank in 2010 through the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.
